Why is Obama getting a dog an important thing?
I don’t get why people are talking about it like it is big news. Since when is getting a dog an issue in the country???

He is getting a puppy for his children
He addressed that to his daughters not America, its the media not him..
It’s not that it’s important but it’s a lighter subject then the bad economy and I think it makes people think of something else besides that..

This isn’t the first time a "white house" dog has been discussed in the news.
The way he announced it. Its sweet… hes a good dad.
not just the puppy, but he makes time for his girls, and reads to them.
It isnt a big deal. He was being nice to his kids, and you know how kids get excited about pets right? They were happy their daddy became president… I didn’t vote for him, but you know it was an exciting moment for the whole family… getting a puppy isn’t a huge deal to the world, but to little kids? Yeah.
I guess everyone wants to see if he gets a Pit.
As long as it’s not from a pet store, I don’t care. I am very much against puppy mills.

Because Bush’s dog is over the hill already and everyone is waiting to see America’s new "First Dog"!
It’s just like a celebratory thing he had with his daughters i bet. His daughters probably said if you win president you have to buy us a dog. It’s not that big of a deal. Just a nice thing for his daughters and it just shows that he cares about them. People are just low-lifes and looking for anything to raise a fuss about if they don’t like the outcome.
Its just a side-show.
Because the first house pet is a tradition and celebrity. It’s just part of being president in a way. Part of the tradition.
Dogs are the most common White House pet, I think it was Socks or Boots that was Clinton’s cat but even he eventually succumbed and got a Lab.
What I don’t get is, why don’t they already have a dog? Oh wait..I know…. Could not have a puppy peeing and pooping in their mansion, but it will be OK in the white house cause that is just temporary housing.
Just more crap to air on silly news channels. Our media is what portrays us as dumb, but I have met a fair number of smarties.
Well, everyone likes puppies and the Obama children are cute kids. It’s just that people like to have the "warm fuzzies" about stuff they think is cute. For me, let them get a pair of walruses if they want. Who gives a flying fvck?

Don’t trouble yourself too much over this…. He was being a little humourous when he said it… I watched the press conference live and laughed when he said it… it was very funny…. Why get mad? He’s not even president yet and the press was just asking a question! You should be more concerned about when they asked him "IS there any intelligence there that you are concerned about, and if we can improve on it" If you watch it he seems to strongly hesitate for a split second signaling horrific things he must have been exposed to in those TOP SECRET FILES.
Did you happen to see when President Bush’s little dog "Barney" bite the reporter? It was hillarious. Little yappy dog went "ARRRG!" lol and the reporter says "He totally got me" lol
