It’s a great breed. Though not very well known among "average" people i guess, most people say "Portuguese what?!" it’s a "required taste" type of breed.
I just had hoped they would have REALLY rescued a dog. this story about this dog not fitting in w/a former family so the breeders (Sen. Kennedy) took him back and placed him w/the Obama’s as a gift just irks me.
He’s a cute dog, but i think it would have been a much better example for them to set to the nation to adopt a mixed breed from a shelter. a mixed breed represents our country in a way….many of different people from different walks of life and background. and i think this just might hurt the Portuguese Water Dog breed as a whole because of idiots that go out and buy the newest "celeb" dog just BECAUSE a high profile person has one, and not for the right reasons.

I don’t know why this is such big news honestly. It’s cute and I’m glad they have a dog in the family but I don’t find it all that interesting.
Uhhhhh……..I guess it is pretty cute but people won’t stop abscessing about it! It really is getting on my nerves!
He’s an adorable dog and he would have found a home in a minute coming from such a good kennel.. I’m disappointed that he didn’t adopt one of the many PWD’s in rescues or shelters that don’t have any where near the chance to be adopted that Bo did. It would have sent a great message that dogs in shelters aren’t problem dogs or throwaways but great dogs deserving a home.
He’s cute. don’t really care as long as they take good care of him. By the way very poor attempt to compare Bo to Obama.

As a puppy, I imagine it’s cute, but I hope they know that the pup will grow up and look pretty different from that cute little pup. I guess they don’t really have to worry about anything though… they will have servants doing all the work anyway. All they have to do is play with him when they want, then they can dismiss him when they don’t want to play with him anymore.
I have 2 pwds and my curly boy looks almost exactly like the new first dog-so I’m biased. Absolutely adorable!
