I think pet insurance is a great idea for younger pets — they have their whole lives ahead of them in which something bad/expensive could happen. Plus, puppies tend to eat things they shouldn’t and get into trouble as is, so your little girl is in her expensive stage anyway. It would be a good idea to get pet insurance before something bad happens (and then becomes a preexisting condtion that won’t be covered).
I recommend Trupanion. They don’t have any breed restrictions and they cover all hereditary conditions (hip dysplasia coverage is optional that you can add on before your pup turns 1). It would be good to have hereditary coverage as bulldogs are more prone to those types of conditions!
I have Trupanion for my dog and I chose it because it covers 90% of the bill, no yearly limits or limits per claim, and I was able to choose a $0 deductible. They don’t cover the vet exam, but as a responsible pet owner, I was already planning to pay for yearly check-ups and vaccines.
Another thing that sold me on Trupanion is that they were the only one I could find that doesn’t raise your premium due to aging. So for you, signing up with a puppy, you’ll get the lowest rate and keep a lower rate for your dog’s entire life.

To be quite honest, I would skip the insurance. I have known a few people that purchased insurance and have even looked into myself. It doesn’t seem to be worth it. Most of them barely cover annual shots and a lot of them have exclusions on certain illnesses and disease and injury.
I just suggest you start an "emergency fund". Just set aside money when you have a little extra and create a fund for any emergency visits or for yearly visits.
regardless of what kind of bull dog you have, first find out what the insurance covers before signing up and handing over any money. you can save that money on your own, monthly and use it when needed.
Its awfully expensive.
I ran a quote with VPI for your six month old bulldog.
Came out to $47.50 a month= $595 a year.
Chances are your dog is not going to be very sick the first 2-3 years of its life.
If you saved that $600 a year in an emergency account I think it would be better.
REMEMBER the INSURANCE DOES NOT PAY 100% of the bills they decide what they feel the procedure should cost and they pay a percentage of that.
Example: Bloat surgery
Your vet Charges $6,700 (My friend just paid that for a bloat surgery)
VPI Decides the surgery is only worth $3,000 and pay 60% of that…. or $1,600, leaving you needing to pay the balance= $5,100

The overall consensus in my group of friends (people who breed and show dogs) is that you are much better off setting aside xxx dollars (insert your currency denomination here) and putting it in savings or a "dog only" account.
There are an awful lot of stories out there of people having difficulty actually getting reimbursement for visits (yes, even routine office visits). With a brachycephalic breed like the bulldog you may run into claims issues with companies telling you some things are inherently pre-existing.
Good Luck!
Insurance depends on where you are – if you live in a city, it’s probably worth it to get insurance (alot of country vet’s won’t accept insurance). Check out AKC’s website. You can also do some research on your own to find the one that best fits your needs.
Just as an example – our friend’s purebred labrador got into antifreeze. Over $2000 later, he’s still investing lots of money into the dog (high-quality food specifically made to help the kidneys).
get one that covers everything
from illness /accidents
stolen /missing from home
holiday cover
incase your dog bites some one
i dont know of any others
