What kind of dog will the Obama girls get? What’s the ‘first dog’ likely to be?
They are a wonderful family. I am happy for the kids as every kid should have a dog. So what should they get? Golden Retriever?
Cocker Spaniel? I predict a Border Collie. In fact, I think they’ll get a pair of the same dog

I am guessing it will be a pit bull or someother vicious fighting dog. I am thinking that Michael Vick may have a pup or two from the dogs he was raising to compete in blood matches.

One of the girls is allergic to dogs so they need something that is so-called hypo-allergenic. I have 2 wheatens and they are the best dogs ever, hands down. And they don’t shed. GO WITH THE WHEATEN!

They should get a boxer- they are great family dogs and are full of life and just great to have around!
If one of the girls does indeed have an allergy to dogs then a poodle is probably best. As far as I know they are the only breed that do not have dander which triggers allergic reaction.
I think a pit bull would be a great dog for the Obama girls, they used to be called the "Nanny Dog" due to their loyal, loving nature. It’s also another issue of prejusice he could help break down!!! In reference to Steve B.’s answer…their the dog of all black people…WRONG!!! Your just prejudice to people and animals. I am a young white woman who is the proud responsible owner of a well-mannered rescued pit. And yes I voted for Obama too! I wouldn’t have either any other way, and can’t wait to see the great change that Barack and his family will bring.
The girls should pick a CHIHUAHUA! And they should name it "SiSeh" as in "Si Se Puede." Now that would be too cute!

I wish more Presidents would have more cats, that would be an awesome place for them, if fact, they should get 3 and a dog. Clinton’s didn’t even keep Socks, that’s a terrible role model for pet ownership.
Whatever dog they get, I hope it will be a really big one. I’m sick of these foofy dogs in the White House, they should get a Mastiff, Great Dane, Shepard, or my top choice…a Husky! If they have to small they should get and English Bulldog or a Pug. I’m 99% sure it will be a smaller dog, especially if it is their 1st one. I predict a Beagle, Bassett Hound, or Poodle.
Well since Obama daughter is allergic, they should get a non shedding dog like a poodle. also they should RESCUE it cause first of all that would be way better but it would also show people that he is caring
I am intrigued by how many people have said in these questions that a pit bull would be a good choice. While they’re excellent family dogs, they’re also not good dogs for inexperienced handlers who don’t know how to train them, add for people who don’t have the time to include them in the family. Considering the people saying this haven’t heard that one of the girls is allergic, how would they know about the Obamas’ dog ownership experience?
