Should I get a Portuguese Water Dog or a Labradoodle?
I really want a puppy but I don’t know what kind I should get?! Please give me some advice!!
My family have liked these two dogs the best forever, then on the news we found out that the Obama family was deciding between these two dogs too! We were all like OMG THAT IS SO WEIRD!!
Omg, thanks guys. I’ve been trying to get my dad into getting the portuguese water dog for sooo long and this might help me talk him into getting the portuguese water dog. yay!
I’m not picking between these two dogs because the Obama’s are, I’m picking them because I have liked the PWD for like ever! But my dad wants the Labradoodle!

The Portuguese Water Dog has a fascinating history. This breed was taken to sea by the Portuguese fishermen for companionship and as a work dog. If a fisherman fell overboard, the Portuguese Water Dog would jump in and pull the fisherman to safety with his tail.
Smart, sweet and loyal, the Portuguese Water Dog can be a nice family pet. This breed is not known for barking often, but does make interesting sounds and barks when he does care to vocalize.
The Portuguese Water Dog loves to chew. Always provide this dog with plenty of chew toys.

A portuguese water dog. I think they would be cuter and scince I have never heard of one you should try something that not everyone has

I think water dogs are greasy.
If you’re planning on PURCHASING a puppy from a breeder. Then the choice is evident, get the Portuguese Water Dog. Lab/poodle mixes are MUTTS and should never be bought from a breeder because these self proclaimed "breeders" seldom do anything a good breed would. Breeding mutts would be your first signal that they’re not a good breeder.
However if you are looking into rescue/adopting I believe the mix would be much easier to find as PWDs tend not to be as common (at least in my area)
I am no fan of these designer crossbreeds (mutts) cockapoos, labradoodles, etc
labradoodles but get one that are more labrador theyre more fun and way CUTER!
Even though both are similar, i would say a labradoodle. They don’t shed and you can get them hypoallergenic. Labradoodles are usually better with other dogs and the price for labradoodles is a lot lower.

Neither, Get a Yorkie. They are smart, devoted and low mtz. The bigger the animal, the larger the problems.

It’s probably not a coincidence since their two unlikely breeds, so the question is, why in the world did you post this?
They’re both soooo cool! I love both of those kinda dogs.
If you want a really unique dog, get a portuguese water dog. It may require a bit more maintenance/grooming but they’re way cool.
If you want a cute dog that everyone is in love with, get a labradoodle. I think they’re require a bit less as far as grooming goes, too.
The only thing is, are you aware that labradoodles are very expensive? It sounds like portuguese water dogs may be too, but I’m not sure…
Neither! A mutt they need you more than a high class dog like that!

personalitys and love to be around you more than expensive dogs like
the ones you mentioned you can go to a local animal shelter or pound

There is only one breed of dog up there. If you can’t figure it out you need to get off answers and fix that problem.
Never buy a dog based soley on looks. You need to visit the Portugeuse water dog breed club website and do some more research to determine if this breed is right for you. Remember you are buying a DOG. Though it may be a puppy at the time, its going to be an adult dog for 90% or more of the time that you have him/her.
if you want a pure breed get the Portuguese Water Dog a Labradoodle is just a mix dog that people like for some reason
You should go to a shelter if you want a dog I think you should get a dog that is older than 1 year because it is probably already potty trained and knows a couple of tricks. It takes a lot of time to train a puppy. If you get a dog from a shelter your saving a life that might have been lost if you would have bought a dog.
Well there both wonderful breeds, but the water dog can have a lot of energy, and if you don’t have the time for that then the labradoodle.

Only one of the two mentioned are real breeds.. I would go with the Portuguese Water Dog.. No such thing as a Labradoodle.
Just becuase a dog is crossed with a Poodle, doesn’t make it better than any other mixed breed out there. It’s a Poodle cross, that’s it.
My advice is this: think about WHY you want a dog, what qualities you want in a dog, what qualities you don’t want in a dog, etc. Think about how much time you have, how much space you have, how much training you’re going to be able to do, etc. If you don’t have an abundance of those things I just mentioned, then you aren’t well suited for either a Portuguese Water Dog, OR a Poodle/Lab cross.
There probably is a dog out there for you, but it’s not quite as easy as that.

Labrodoodles are mutts
PWD are great but not for everyone.

Porties are not for everyone. They are independent, smart and pushy. I would not recommend them for a first time dog owner. Here’s a great site that describes their pros and cons:
