how to do dog potty training older dogs?

Yep. Just think of him being a puppy. Take him out every 30 min and praise praise and praise when he goes outside. Supervise him at all times so you get to know the signs he’ll give you when he has to go pee.

The same way you would a puppy. Be persistant, consistant and patient.
Crate the dog and until the dog is reliably going outside he should have absolutely no unsupervised freedom in the house because that is when mistakes will happen. Take the dog outside after meals, playing and sleeping, if he does not go after 10 to 15 minutes return him to the crate for an additional 15 to 30 minutes and take him out again. If he still doesn’t go repeat process. When he does finally go outside, wait til he is done and praise lavishly and reward with a treat.
Housebreaking will only be successful if you are dilligent in watching him and taking him out as necessary and making sure he has no chance to make a mistake.

Also you need to buy a cleaner like Nature’s Miracle or Simple Solution to clean your carpets and to get the scent of urine and feces out of the carpet, the dog will not stop going in the house if the scent remains in the carpet or floor.
Had a 2 year old shih tzu when i did dog potty training on him. Maybe you experience it that your dog right now would pee and poop on almost all the corners in your house. Now these are their specific pee and poop spots. You might wonder why? Dogs usually unloads to the spot where they smell something familiar to their dirt. The first ever thing to do is to know where are these spots and clean them leaving no smell at all. Now regularly take your dog outside right after he eats. Dogs normally pee and poop 15 minutes later right after their meals. If he still pees and poops inside then patienly clean those spots again until you take all his pee and poop spots inside your house and he will be accustomed to unload outside where you are taking him. Easy right?
